Private Markets

A private pension investor in asset management refers to a workplace pension scheme run by private-sector employers, typically structured as either defined benefit (DB) or defined contribution (DC) schemes. These investors allocate capital to a range of asset classes, equities, fixed income, private markets, etc., to meet long-term retirement liabilities or member outcomes.

Private credit, also referred to as private debt, represents a form of lending where non-bank investors provide capital directly to companies, usually private, often mid-sized, that require financing but do not issue bonds in public markets or secure loans from banks. These investments are generally illiquid, bespoke, and privately negotiated, making them fundamentally different from public corporate bonds or syndicated bank loans.

An endowment investor in asset management refers to a fund set up by institutions such as universities, foundations, or charities to support their long-term missions. These funds are typically built from donations and are invested to generate income while preserving (and ideally growing) capital over time. The investment strategy aims to balance income generation with intergenerational equity, ensuring the fund supports both current and future beneficiaries.
